Should I tip on the pre-tax or post-tax amount?

Convention is to tip on the pre-tax total. The difference is small, and either is accepted.

What if a service charge is already included?

No extra tip is expected. Many restaurants add 10-15% automatically for larger groups, so check the bill before adding more.

How do I split a bill unevenly?

Work out the tip on the whole bill, then divide it in the same proportion as each person’s order rather than equally.
